Event: Commemorative Concert
Saturday 16th October 2021 at 5:30pm, St Alban's Church, The Ridgeway, North Harrow HA2 7PF
As with every other music group, we haven't been able to perform in public for the best part of 2 years - our Spring concert in 2020 having been cancelled at very short notice at the beginning of Lockdown. However, we were fortunate in being able to make good use of the months that followed as we continued to rehearse every week - courtesy of Zoom. This has not only helped us to get through this unique and challenging period of history, it has also enabled us to stay together, both as a choir and as friends.
Memorable though it has been, we are now most anxious to begin putting the recent past firmly behind us and our short concert on 16th October is, we hope, the first significant step towards a return to music normality. But more importantly, and before we can move forward, it is an opportunity for us to pay our own tribute to the many residents of Harrow whom we have lost during the pandemic - including a number of choir members and close friends.
Although reflective and commemorative, it is not intended that the concert be a sombre occasion. The music will include short pieces both secular and sacred from various composers including Faure, Handel, Brahms and Haydn. There will also be two short readings.
Admission is free and there will be a retiring collection in support of St Luke's Hospice.
After the concert, we hope very much that the audience will join us in the adjoining hall for a glass of wine or equivalent.
Free admission. There wil be a retiring collection in support of St Luke's Hospice, Kenton.
