We are delighted and privileged to have had Paul Ayres as our Accompanist since Spring 2020. Born in London, Paul studied music at Oxford University, and now works as an organist, accompanist, composer & arranger, choral conductor & musical director,
His music has been awarded, or shortlisted for, composition prizes in Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, New Zealand, Poland, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, the UK and the USA. Paul has received over one hundred commissions for new works, and he particularly enjoys “re-composing” classical works (Purcell, Bach, Handel, Fauré) and “classicising” pop music (jazz and show tunes, The Beatles, Happy Hardcore).
Paul is the regular conductor of City Chorus and the choirs at London College of Music (University of West London), accompanist of Concordia Voices, and associate accompanist of Crouch End Festival Chorus. He has led many music education workshops for children, and played piano for improvised comedy shows and musical theatre
